His father, Virendra Bhatia, was a former member of the Rajya Sabha (the upper house of the Parliament of India) and served as the Advocate General of the state of Uttar Pradesh. Gaurav Bhatia’s educational journey began with schooling at La Martiniere College in Lucknow. He pursued his undergraduate studies at the University of Bridgeport in Connecticut, United States. Subsequently, he graduated in law from Lucknow University.

He initially served as an Advocate-on-Record of the Supreme Court before achieving the prestigious designation of Senior Advocate.
