Poonam Pandit was born into a middle-class farming family in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh. Her educational journey began in Meerut, where she completed her schooling. She furthered her education by obtaining a Bachelor’s degree (B.A) and a Master’s degree (M.A) from Gajraula University Venkteshwar.

From a young age, Poonam displayed exceptional talent, catching the eye of her uncle, who was a police officer. Recognizing her potential, her uncle encouraged her to pursue shooting as a sport. Poonam’s journey as a shooter began with admission to a nearby shooting academy, where her dedicated coach, Neetu, played a pivotal role in her training.
