Surinder Mahey (born 1958) is an Indian politician and former Mayor of Jalandhar.[1]
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
He was born into Ravidassia (Chamar) family to Roop Lal at Jalandhar, Punjab.[2] He is also a businessman and married to Geeta Mahey.
Career[edit | edit source]
In 2002, Mahey elected to Jalandhar Municipal Corporation from Congress. He had lobbied for a Assembly ticket from Jalandhar South, but was denied the ticket.[3]
In 2017, he also fought Punjab Legislative Assembly elections from Jalandhar West as an independent candidate but lost to Sushil Kr Rinku.[4] Same year he was expelled by Congress alleging for anti-party activities.[5]
In 2019, he joined Bharatiya Janata Party along with Dr.Swaran Singh.[6]
