Priyadarshini Raje Scindia (née Gaekwad) was born on February 16, 1975, into a distinguished lineage. Her father, Kumar Sangramsinh Gaekwad, was the eighth child of Pratap Singh Rao Gaekwad, the last maharaja of Baroda State. Her mother, Asharaje Gaekwad, comes from the esteemed Rana dynasty of Nepal, known for their hereditary role as feudal prime ministers.

Scindia received her education at Fort Convent School and Sophia College for Women, both in Mumbai. In December 1994, she married Jyotiraditya Scindia, a prominent figure in Indian politics and a member of parliament from Madhya Pradesh. The couple has two children, Mahaaryaman Scindia and Ananya Scindia.

Known for her elegance and style, Scindia has been recognized for her fashion sense, appearing in Verve’s “Best dressed – 2008” hall of fame list and making it to the “India’s 50 Most Beautiful Women” list by Femina in 2012.

Beyond her personal endeavors, Scindia is actively involved in heritage restoration projects, particularly focusing on Jai Vilas Mahal and Usha Kiran Palace. Additionally, she dedicates her efforts to formulating projects aimed at benefiting children, emphasizing the importance of preserving and nurturing heritage. According to her, “living in a palace is a full-time job,” reflecting her commitment to preserving cultural heritage and ensuring its relevance in contemporary times.
