Rhea Chakraborty is an Indian actress and VJ who primarily appears in Hindi films. She started her career as a VJ on MTV India. She made her acting debut with the 2012 Telugu film Tuneega Tuneega and later appeared in the Hindi film Mere Dad Ki Maruti.

Early Life

Rhea Chakraborty was born into a Bengali family, with her father serving as an Indian Army officer. Her educational journey included schooling at Army Public School Ambala Cantt in Ambala, shaping her early life within an army family.

Career Beginnings

Rhea Chakraborty embarked on her career in 2009, participating in MTV India’s TVS Scooty Teen Diva competition, where she emerged as the first runner-up. Her journey into television continued as she auditioned to become a VJ at MTV Delhi and successfully secured the role. Over the years, she hosted several MTV shows, including “Pepsi MTV Wassup,” “TicTac College Beat,” and “MTV Gone in 60 Seconds,” displaying her vibrant on-screen presence.

In 2012, she made her foray into acting with the Telugu film “Tuneega Tuneega,” where she portrayed the character Nidhi. Following this, she ventured into Bollywood with her debut in “Mere Dad Ki Maruti” (2013) as Jasleen. Recognition and Personal Life

Rhea Chakraborty’s life took a significant turn with her involvement in a relationship with actor Sushant Singh Rajput, beginning in April 2019. The couple also ventured into the business world, co-founding an artificial intelligence company named “Vividrage Rhealityx” in September 2019. Tragically, on June 14, 2020, Sushant Singh Rajput passed away by suicide at his residence in Bandra, Mumbai, merely six days after Rhea Chakraborty had moved out.

On July 25, 2020, Rajput’s family filed an FIR with Patna Police, accusing Rhea Chakraborty and several others of various charges, including abetment of suicide and theft. The case also involved allegations regarding the handling of Rajput’s medical records and other sensitive issues.

Subsequently, the Enforcement Directorate (ED) questioned Rhea Chakraborty and her brother over money laundering allegations in August 2020. The case took a significant turn when the Supreme Court of India allowed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) to take charge of the investigation in August 2020. The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) arrested Rhea Chakraborty in September 2020, charging her with alleged involvement in the supply of marijuana to Sushant Singh Rajput.

After her arrest, she spent nearly a month in pretrial confinement until October 7, 2020, when she was granted bail by the Bombay High Court. The high court noted that due to her lack of criminal history, there were reasonable grounds to believe that she was not likely to commit further offenses.
