Tanmoy Roy, an Indian filmmaker and screenplay writer hailing from a Bengali family, was born on August 9, 1967, in Midnapur, West Bengal. He pursued an M.Sc. in Economics and a B.Ed. from Vidyasagar University before embarking on his career journey. Initially, he delved into drama direction and writing, later establishing the theater group CHARUSHILA in Mumbai in 1995. Shifting his focus to film, he honed his skills under the mentorship of Nabendu Ghosh in 1996, delving deeper into the craft of filmmaking.

Roy’s directorial debut came with the play “MUKTI” in 1998, which garnered acclaim from both audiences and critics alike. His cinematic endeavors include the Bengali film “Sesh Chithi,” the bilingual “CIRCLE,” and the Hindi film “RAJNANDINI.” Currently, he is working on “Swapnasandhani” and its sequel, “Swapna Sandhani-2,” featuring acclaimed actor Soumitra Chatterjee.
