Ghazal Alagh, a corporate trainer turned multifaceted entrepreneur, is known for co-founding Mamaearth, India’s pioneering toxin-free baby care brand. Her journey began from a personal passion for making early parenthood stress-free. As the Co-Founder and Chief Mama at Mamaearth, she assumes the crucial role of overseeing product development and community management, where she collaborates closely with countless mothers to create a product line that tackles everyday parenting challenges.

Ghazal’s inspiration to establish a 100% toxin-free baby products brand sprouted when she encountered difficulties in finding chemical-free products for her son, Agastya. This experience fueled her determination to make a difference.

Notably, Ghazal is not only a thriving entrepreneur but also a celebrated artist. She’s been recognized as one of India’s top 10 women artists, both nationally and internationally. Her academic journey includes a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology and intensive courses in modern art, design, and applied arts from the New York Academy of Arts.

Her professional journey commenced as a corporate trainer at NIIT, where she imparted knowledge to managers and engineers in SQL, J2ME, and Oracle. It was her transition into motherhood that ignited the spark for Mamaearth. Alongside her husband, she embarked on this eco-conscious journey in 2016, focusing on creating eco-friendly personal hygiene products for mothers and newborns. Central to their mission is an emphasis on organic ingredients and recyclable packaging, driven by Ghazal’s passion for Mother Earth.

Ghazal’s accomplishments have only continued to grow. Her appearance on Shark Tank India catapulted her into the spotlight, although her success was well-established before the show. Born into a middle-class family in Gurgaon, Haryana, Ghazal’s journey from pursuing a degree in computer application at Punjab University to founding Mamaearth is a testament to her entrepreneurial spirit and commitment to making a positive impact on the world.

Mamaearth’s inception in 2016 was a response to Ghazal and Varun Alagh’s desire to ensure their child’s safety. The couple’s quest for reliable and safe baby products led them to create Asia’s first certified toxin-free baby care brand, Mamaearth. Their brand’s commitment to 100% Toxin-Free and Natural Baby Mamacare products addressed the concerns of countless parents.

From an initial investment of Rs 25 lakh, Mamaearth has now grown into a remarkable company valued at Rs 9800 crore. What began as an online-focused brand has expanded its reach with a dedicated research facility and adherence to MadeSafe standards. Mamaearth’s offerings have expanded beyond infant care, and it currently serves over 5 million customers in more than 500 cities. In a significant milestone, the company turned a profit of Rs 14 crore and achieved unicorn status, now valued at $1.2 billion.
